Ross EMBA – Michigan Executive MBA program - FAQ


Ross Executive MBA program, is ranked no. 4 in the world. Ross EMBA, and in general, like most Executive MBA programs, gives the students the same degree as full-time or part-time MBA. Of course, there are different value propositions, but at the end of the day the degree would have the same title. 

FAQ about Ross EMBA including the admission process and class profile:

  Ross EMBA Admissions
  • GMAT is not required as part of the application process (something that is very common in other top EMBA programs)
  • Although GMAT is not required, the quantitative abilities of candidates are important and reviewed via transcripts and work experience. There is a Quantitative Skills Workshop offered prior to the kickoff of the program.
  • Interview is a must, and applicants are called for an interview after they have submitted their application. Interviews usually take place in Ann Arbor by a member of the Ross Admission committee.
  • Applicants need to provide resume, 2 recommendations and answer the essays (see below).
Required work experience for Ross Executive MBA

  • Full-time work experience after earning your bachelor's degree. Candidates will typically have a minimum of ten (10) years of work experience, including five years in a supervisory role.
Class profile of Ross EMBA program:
  • Size : the typical class size is 25-30 students, however the school list 35-60 as target size for each class.
  • There are 2 classes each year: one beginning in August and one beginning in January.
  •  Female:  22  % ,
  • International:  24  %
  • Average months of work experience: 168
  • EMBA students living within 45 miles of campus: 49  %

Long Answers: (500 word max)  
  • Briefly describe your short-term and long-term career goals. Why is an MBA the best choice at this point in your career? What and/or who influence your decision to apply to Ross?
  • Describe your most significant professional accomplishment. Elaborate on the leadership skills you displayed, the actions you took and the impact you had on your organization.
Short Answers: (300 word max) 
  • If you were not pursuing the career goals you described in Question 1 what profession would you pursue instead? (For example, teacher, musician, athlete, architect, etc.) How will this alternative interest contribute to your effectiveness in solving multidisciplinary problems?
  • Describe your experience during a challenging time in your life. Explain how you grew personally, either despite this challenge or because of it.

  • Is there anything else you think the Admissions Committee should know about you to evaluate your candidacy?
